Qi gong is a traditional chinese discipline based on posture and/or simple movements. It develops:
- Addominal breathing
- Body listening
- Full consciousness
There are many kinds of qi gong, each one focusing on a specific purpose:
- Martial art
Between heaven and earth
In the Chinese tradition, human being stands between earth and heaven. Thereby he receives qi (life energy) from both. Qi gong increases the amount and the quality of qi that we capture from nature.
The perpetual movement
The repetition of the movements always teaches us something new about us and life.
Tai chi, or taiji quan, is a traditional Chinese martial art based on the Taoist philosophy of life. First of all life is movement. As in the tai chi symbol, yin and yang permanently coexist and balance.
The principles of tai chi practice are the same as those of qi gong. The practice of tai chi is based on the training of a tai chi routine or form. It is a succession of postures that follow on in slow movements. Furthermore each posture has a martial art application that student trains with a partner. Like yin and yang always coexist, each posture includes attack and defense aspects.
As an internal martial art Tai qi focuses on awareness. Tai qi enhances health and longevity. It is also a powerful self-defense system. Our master is Mr Henli Röder, who in turn received his teaching from professor Cheng Man-ch’ing.
Hatha yoga is part of the traditional indian discipline called yoga. It focuses on the purification of the physical body. A yoga session consists on a combination of exercises:
- breathing exercises called pranayama
- postures called asanas
- relaxation postures
Yoga practice is based on the quality of breathing and listening of the body. Therefore the progression inside a posture is linked to the quality of the breath and the relaxation. Bending and stretching cause the body to relax. So as the body reflects our mind, this relaxation causes the mind to rest. Finally yoga, by liberating our bodies, also liberates our minds.

Hala asana develops creativity and clarifies the mind. Hatha yoga postures all benefit body, mind and spirit.
The rest of mind
Meditation is the nap of the mind. The training consists of taking distance with our brain activity. We just observe it without getting involved into it. This requires a state of relaxed, yet permanent, concentration.
Meditation is a mental and spiritual practice that exists in many traditions all over the world. It is a way to access a higher level of consciousness. At this level we feel connected with universe and all beings.
Meditation gradually leads to:
- Self-knowledge and self-acceptance
- Management of emotions and stress
- Capacity to live the present time – and enjoy it
- Stability and clarity of the mind
- Mindfulness and peacefulness
Meditation benefits health, especially by improving the immune system and reducing the stress effects.
